Why AAC Certification Matters
Anodizing plays a critical role in the appearance, durability and long-term performance of aluminum products. The AAC Anodizing Certification Program establishes an industry-focused and independently administered framework for evaluating anodized finishes against defined performance requirements.
By making certification available to all qualifying anodizers, the program can help raise expectations across the industry, encourage greater consistency and strengthen confidence in anodized aluminum.
- Demonstrates a commitment to quality and consistent performance
- Differentiates the facility in the marketplace
- Strengthens customer and specifier confidence
- Provides recognition through the AAC Certification mark
- Is available regardless of AAC membership
- Greater confidence when selecting an anodizing partner
- Greater assurance of quality and process consistency
- Recognized performance requirements and measureable acceptance criteria
- Improved communication of finish and performance expectations
- A credible way to identify independently certified anodizing facilities
Developed Through Industry and Certification Expertise
AAC developed the program in collaboration with IAPMO and Systems Certification Body (SCB).
AAC contributed the anodizing industry’s technical knowledge and practical experience. IAPMO worked with AAC to develop and publish IAPMO 428, which establishes the performance requirements, test methods and acceptance criteria. SCB worked with AAC to develop the audit and certification framework and conducts the independent certification process.
How to Become Certified
