I'm an architect.
For an exterior application in salty environment, I specified 3/4" thick, 8' wide 6061 T6 aluminum plates with Class 1 Natural Anodized Finish (AAMA 611 AA-M12C22A41 Clear anodic coating not less than 0.7 mils thick).
Contractor submitted a sample of grained (120 grit) plate in Type III hard anodized coating. its dark gray looking, quite unusual for those of us that are used to seeing standard clear anodizing. I love it, personally.
My question is: can anyone tell me if performance of AAC Type III in the exterior coastline salty environment in San Francisco will be equivalent to the specified Class 1 A41 finish? Is color retention good? Is color consistency good from piece to piece?
Thanks.
