Yes, anodizing can be used as pre-paint. It has excellent adhesion properties, but must not be sealed. Also, the paint should be applied soon after anodizing.


: We are considering electrocoating large aluminum parts for an automotive application that are to be later painted with a class A finish. My question is if anodizing is an option for corrosion resistance and a good substrate for liquid, or powder paint? We would also need to process on a production line, making the time requirements to anodize a part a consideration.
