Hi-
I have a production problem with black particles flaking off of a black anodized aluminum part.
The part is stamped aluminum, 15 mil thickness, about 6mmx6mmx1mm in size.
This part is used in an optical application, so the flaked off particles cause problems with the optics. The particles range in size from 5um to 20um.
We have EDX the particles, and of course they are aluminum oxide.
What is causing these particles? What process improvements should we be looking at?
