AAC Awards Poster Session Winners

AAC held its third student poster session at the 2016 Fall Conference in Montreal, Canada.  The Academic Task Force collected entries for the event, and five of the entries were on hand to present their posters to the three judges. In the end, three posters were chosen as equal winners, with one honorable mention.

2011

The AAC held its first Poster Session competition during the 2011 Annual International Anodizing Conference in Tempe, Arizona. The Academic Task Force collected entries for the event, and eight of the 12 entries were on hand to present their posters to the three judges. In the end, three posters were chosen as equal winners, with one honorable mention.


Dakota Smith and Stephanie LeRette (not pictured), University of New Hampshire, Signal Processing Studies of DC+AC Anodizing

Dakota Smith and Stephanie LeRette of the University of New Hampshire won with their poster, titled Signal Processing Studies of DC+AC Anodizing. Smith and LeRette looked into how DC+AC anodizing affects the oxide coating capacitance and resistance.

 



Julien Escobar, Laurent Arurault and Viviane Turz, Universite de Toulouse, Preparation and characterizations of lubricating anodic films on aluminum substrate (pictured is proxy presenter Mahmoud Vahidi)

Julien Escobar, Laurent Arurault and Viviane Turz of the Universite de Toulouse won for their poster, titled Preparation and characterizations of lubricating anodic films on aluminum substrate. The poster addressed the consequences of lubricating anodic films to obtain specific material properties.

 

 



Martin Aggerbeck, Technical University of Denmark, and Kristian Techendorff (not pictured), Danish Technological Institute, in collaboration with Flemming Jensen and Ib Kongstad, Bang & Olufsen, Optical Appearance & Corrosion Properties of Aluminum-Based Plasma Coatings

Martin Aggerbeck of the Technical University of Denmark and Kristian Techendorff of the Danish Technological Institute, in conjunction with Flemming Jensen and Ib Kongstaf of Bang & Olufsen, presented the poster Optical Appearance & Corrosion Properties of Aluminum-Based Plasma Coatings. This poster analyzed the use of plasma coating to create an aluminum that can be anodized while keeping its nice appearance and good corrosion properties.

 



Honorable Mention

Jean-Pierre Cavalie and Laurent Arurault of the Universite de Toulouse received honorable mention for their poster The Aluchromists: an artistic movement using organic coloring of anodic films on aluminum for artworks creation. This historical topic looked at the works of the Aluchromist art movement in the 1950s, which used anodized aluminum.
