Wauconda, Illinois - The Aluminum Anodizers Council (AAC) has issued the Call for Papers for the Twentieth Annual International Anodizing Conference, scheduled to take place October 4 through 6, 2011 at The Buttes Tempe Marriott Resort in Tempe, Arizona, USA. The Council is seeking manuscripts and presentations covering a range of anodizing-related subjects to ensure that delegates are offered the most innovative, timely, and relevant content in the anodizing industry today. The Anodizing Conference is an important educational event that offers a forum for anodizing industry professionals to exchange new ideas, innovations, processes, and technologies. The 2011 Anodizing Conference is expected to attract more than 150 anodizers and other professionals within the anodizing community.

Business and industry issues, anodizing processes, environmental practices, metallurgy, waste treatment, and innovative applications are just some of the topics that have been addressed at the conference in the past. Those involved in operating, maintaining, or promoting the anodizing process benefit from the information presented at the Anodizing Conference, which is designed to appeal to industry professionals at every level in every aspect of production. To spark ideas for prospective authors, a list of topics, including subjects addressed at past Conferences and suggestions taken from conference evaluation forms, is available on the Call for Papers page of the conference website at www.AACconf.org.

Based on the submission of abstracts, selected individuals offering abstracts for consideration will be invited to submit their paper and deliver presentations at the Conference in October. Papers will be selected based on criteria such as relevance, originality, quality, accuracy, practicality, usefulness, and noncommercial tone and content. Abstracts will be reviewed and evaluated by the Council's Education Committee during the AAC Winter Meetings in January as they organize the program for the 2011 Anodizing Conference. However, the Council will continue to consider abstracts submitted after January 2011. Key topics likely to be of interest to all registrants will be identified, as will a number of issues or specific-interest presentations for the in-depth Focus Sessions.

Those interested in presenting a paper at the 2011 Anodizing Conference in Tempe, Arizona should submit an Abstract by visiting www.AACconf.org and following the link to the Call for Papers, or contact AAC at mail@anodizing.org.

Call for Student Posters Issued
New for next year’s Anodizing Conference, AAC plans to include poster presentations featuring the work of students. A poster is a graphically based approach to presenting research containing only the crucial points of the work. “We are inviting students engaged in electrochemistry, metallurgy, chemistry, materials science, and related engineering disciplines to present their work at a poster session at the 2011 Anodizing Conference,” said Greg Rajsky, AAC President. The AAC Poster Session provides a forum where students may present their research in surface science, surface treatment, electrochemical finishing and other relevant technologies to an interested audience of industry professionals.

The Call for Posters flyer is available to download from the Conference website at www.AACconf.org. The AAC Student Poster Session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, 2011. The AAC Executive Committee or their designees will judge the posters, and prizes will be awarded to the three best poster presentations. Abstracts for poster presentations should not exceed 200 words and should be submitted by February 11, 2011 to mail@anodizing.org. Students will be notified by February 25, 2011 as to whether their abstracts are accepted. Drafts with relevant poster content are due by April 8, 2011. If the poster draft is accepted, students will be informed by May 6, 2011. Students are encouraged to visit the Call for Posters page of the Anodizing Conference website at www.AACconf.org for more information, or contact AAC at mail@anodizing.org.
